Traveling from northern Texas to and through New Mexico, are miles and miles of flat prairieland! The speed limit is 75 for most of it. Flashing signs indicate high wind advisories. Bud generally kept the speed about 61 or 62 due to the high winds and gusts that shook the RV. Can’t imagine what that must have been like in a covered wagon! Or whether there was any covering left.

A bit of boredom set in so Shari began counting cars/trucks. In a 40 mile stretch we were passed by 5 vehicles (since we were driving slowly). And 26 went by heading east.

Note: elevation is 3321 feet – and flat!

The landscape did change and we did a bit of sightseeing along the way.  Some interesting old towns and museums of early Spanish colonization, pioneer life, and original buildings from the late 1800’s at Lincoln, NM.

an old mission – still in use
note the extra seat on the chair!

Just one of the fascinating original structures!
