Route 66 became the first US national highway to be completely paved in 1938 at 2448 miles (almost 4000 kilometers). It stretched from Chicago, IL to Los Angeles, CA. (For our Cambodian friends – that is like driving from Cambodia to Pakistan, or getting almost to Japan!)
