We are amazed at the structures of very early houses and communities in the Southwest. Estimates are from 800 to 1300 AD.

They are scattered over a wide area, and evidence from artifacts shows the Native Americans had a wide trade network as well. Some communities likely had 2,000 or more inhabitants!

Cliff Dwellings

Rock “condo” units that were often 2 and 3 stories high:

Village of numerous houses with towers for? protection? granaries?

Separate dwellings, but still near others:

And many other houses of various sizes and styles.
