Three Rivers Petroglyph Park is a fascinating and unique “art gallery”. We hiked up a trail among rocks and boulders of various sizes, and enjoyed seeing the many Petroglyphs done by ancient indigenous cultures. They made various designs by chiseling into the rocks. We saw only a fraction of the more than 20,000 documented at this site.

A fascinating (and invigorating) hike.
This is the trail – really there are paths through this! It is also much steeper than it looks, but we saw amazing petroglyphs everywhere!
many pictures of animals
and people – this person is wearing earrings!!

We also hiked through the Valley of Fire, where several thousand years ago a rupture in the side of a volcano caused a huge lava flow into this valley.

It seems like flat land from this picture, but the canyon is nearby.
fingers of lava as it spread out and cooled
other spots were deep – some over 30 feet deep into the canyon

And we fellowshipped with other Jesus followers at a different type of “Rock”

vibrant multi-ethnic and multi-generational congregation with a warm welcome to visitors
