Arriving in Green Valley, south of Tucson, we were blessed to find a campground with vacancy! And by changing sites we stayed several nights. It was a “55 and up” fancy resort type place with all kinds of activities – the postings showed multiple activities and events daily. There was a nice pool – but with temps in the mid 60’s we saw only a few brave souls in the pool!
We visited with Gary and Connie Estes, and Bud and Gary also went to see Don Estes who is in hospice care. They gave us a tour of the area and we saw acres and acres of pecan orchards. After the first frost, they have special equipment to “shake” each tree, and then gather the fallen nuts! Who knew?
They also gave us lots of tips on places to go and things to see and do! Places we especially enjoyed included:
Saguaro National Park, San Xavier del Baco Mission, Titan Missile Museum, the old city of Tombstone, and much more.
With the storms in the Rockies to our north, and massive flooding north of Phoenix, we have opted to stay in the southern part of Arizona a little longer.
Did you take part in any of the activities at the resort campground? I’m surprised anyone was in the pool!
Our big activity was using the laundry room. And the showers!
Too busy visiting friends and sightseeing to play bingo, do yoga or participate in the other stuff. 😀
I’m enjoying seeing all the wonderful places you are visiting. You both look really good. We miss you at Shenandoah. Safe travels.
Miss SNP and BVC and of course SNPA folks!
Checking off our NPS list however. Along with lots of other folks! Lots of traffic at Joshua Tree NP today.
Hugs to all!
Wow! Wonderful you have such good memories to all the places where you go. Missing and love you both 🥰😍💕
